Pray for our new President
Tuesday, January 20th, 2009
Knowing that “[God] removes kings and establishes kings” (Daniel 2:21) and, that ”the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind and bestows it (rulership) on whomever He wishes” (Dan 4:32) and, that we are to be “in subjection to the governing authorities” because “there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God” (Romans 13:1) and, that we are to “render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor”, I encourage “entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity” (1 Tim 2:1-2).
If you want to know how to pray for President Obama, here is a prayer by Al Molher to get you started.
Church-wide Reading Challenge?
Monday, January 19th, 2009
In light of the reading contest Brad and I have embarked upon I thought it would be good if we took up the challenge as a church.
I suggest we start with the book Respectable Sins by Jerry Bridges. You can buy the book at Amazon for $12.91 or at CBD for $13.99.
If you are interested sign up on the comment section and lets try and get the blog going by the second week in February.
